Matt Keighan

Matt Keighan is at home behind the drums. He has recorded, performed, and toured as a drummer extensively. Notably, Matt has performed at the world-famous PINKPOP festival in the Netherlands and has also done 2 extensive tours through the Netherlands playing drums in the band The Mandevilles.  He has performed all over North America from the Atlantic to the Pacific, and from Alaska to Texas. He is also a teacher, who has instructed many aspiring young drummers.
Matt Keighan is an accomplished recording engineer and producer who has won Niagara Music Awards multiple times for his work at his studio, AudioMat. It was through his studio that he met Anthony Botting and formed The Cocktails. Their mutual vision of a hard-rocking, grunge-tinged, punk-influenced band was actualized on their debut album “VIVA LA JUICY” by streamlining their aggressive songs to an aerodynamic precision with an emphasis on less-is-more.
Previously, Matt played drums in a band whose lead guitar player for a time was Rod Standish. They toured across Canada and throughout the United States several times together. After that, Keighan recorded many of Standish’s musical projects in his studio, occasionally playing drums and engineering. Matt endorsed Rod’s ability to step into this role when a full-time bass player was needed. Due to their experiences together and Matt’s airtight timekeeping skills, these two found it easy to lock in as the rhythm section and form a tight pocket for Anthony to play over. Together, the three of them wrote “YIPPEE FxxxIN’ HURRAY”.
Matt is a goal-oriented man of vision who knows what he likes and pursues it until he gets it. When Matt gets that big grin on his face behind the kit, you know he’s into it, and something good is about to happen.
