Rod Standish

Rod Standish walked across Canada. He also broke the world record for world’s longest guitar marathon. He has organized multiple live-stream music marathons, in the longest of which he performed for 100 hours. He has toured North America and written, recorded, and released hundreds of songs. He organized a concert series that performed 38 different albums in their entirety, many of them featuring Anthony Botting. Rod is a music instructor at the award-winning music school, Quarter Note Music Arts.
Just after The Cocktails released their first record, Rod booked the band for a live-stream event called Jam In Perpetuity. There were still some precautions in place from covid that made playing a conventional venue impossible.  At the time, Rod was not yet part of the band. The Cocktails performed that date as a five-piece band with Anthony Botting, Matt Keighan, Jeffro Feimanis, Robby Jackman, and Brett Fusco on bass. Rod was impressed by what he saw in the show, and by what he heard on their first record.
In of August 2021, Anthony asked Rod if he wanted to play bass in The Cocktails. Rod was already friends with Matt Keighan, the two of them having toured extensively together, and with Rod invading Keighan’s studio every week with a constant barrage of different musical projects. He was also already good friends with Anthony, so it was a natural fit. Amid Lineup changes, Rod laid down fuzzed out basslines on his Rickenbacker 4 string for the band’s second album, “YIPPEE FxxxIN’ HURRAY”. He also brought his compositional skills to the record, contributing to the writing and arranging of the songs. Contributing his flamboyant stage presence to their already impressive live performances, Rod completes the power trio that is The Cocktails.
Rod is a father and family man whose work has always revolved around music. Whether onstage, backstage or teaching, Rod dedicates his life to a balance of love and music.
